"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Richard Young posted in satsang
Look beyond the ideas, dogma, and teachings (beliefs) of your particular spiritual tradition. These are of the mind and are meant only as pointers. We are that Aware Presence within which these ideas and teachings arise and pass away. We are THAT which cannot be spoken, that Great Silence which is aware of all comings and goings and which the mind cannot fathom or understand. Quiet thoughts for a moment, and see what is Seeing. Thou art That.

[satsang] When the spiritual journey ends of it's own...

Richard Young posted in satsang
When the spiritual journey ends of it's own accord, we finally see the futility of pursuing it any further. It was the longing for love and oneness that set us off on the quest, guided our steps along the way, and finally bid us rest in the LOVE and ONENESS which is our true nature. We are not individuals on a journey and never have been. We are that for which we seek. We are Aware Presence within which all things arise, have their day, and pass away...including the spiritual journey.

Are you sure dear Swami? In my mind i remember, that Sri Nisargadatta had even doubts about reincarnation. When i "thought" about it, there came the idea, that it also could be, that we are only lightenergy, which becomes just a new bundle, where it is needed, to let things go on.... would be interesting, what others 'think or know about this...???

[satsang] Of his sudden spiritual awakening, or 'epiphany,'...

Bruce Godden posted in satsang
Of his sudden spiritual awakening, or 'epiphany,' the Trappist monk, Thomas Merton said: "I have the immense joy of being man, a member of a race in which God Himself became incarnate. As if the sorrows and stupidities of the human condition could overwhelm me, now that I realize what we all are. And if only everybody could realize this! But it cannot be explained. There is no way of telling people that they are all walking around shining like the sun." "This changes nothing in the sense and value of my solitude, for it is in fact the function of solitude to make one realize such things with a clarity that would be impossible to anyone completely immersed in the other cares, the other illusions, and all the automatisms of a tightly collective existence. My solitude, however, is not my own, for I see now how much it belongs to them — and that I have a responsibility for it in their regard, not just in my own. It is because I am one with them that I owe it to them to be alone, and when I am alone, they are not

You do nothing! You have never done anything, it just happens and it has always just happened. We think that awakening, clarity, understanding etc....will change everything, that we will be in a permanent state of bliss. Big news! Life will go on as it does with its twists and turns, joy and pain as it always had. It's just no longer 'personal' but it is way more intimate.
